The pie chart below, based on a one-minute average during the weekend in the daylight hours, illustrates the three primary methods of transportation on Tenth Street.

Tenth Street has a large amount of traffic. Bikers dodging between cars and crowds of people gathered on the corners waiting for the crosswalk to turn are common sites from my window. Once in a while a skateboarder will appear, or even a scooterer.
Being curious about the precise proportions of traffic, I counted once. Not one day, but only one minute, on the weekend and during the day.
What I found was very interesting. The number of pedestrians moving down Tenth Street nearly halves the number of vehicles. And the number of vehicles count nearly 22 times more than bicycles do. |
